Blue Perfection

(Gossard, James) 2015 introduction

Seedling #A107

(Shasta Blue Butterfly) x (Super Fancy Face x Texas Kaleidoscope)

Diploid 30" Mid season Dormant emo fr 5.5" 3-4 way branching 18-22 buds. Fertile both ways. Rebloomer. Very good rust resistance. Northern Hardy.

Flowers of Blue Perfection are cream to near white with a multi-colored patterned eye zone of blues, violet, purple and maroon. The throat is very green throat. The petals, sepals and edge are patterned. The eye zone is very blue. I believe it to be the bluist DORMANT full formed diploid introduced todate. A super good parent for hybridizing large blue patterned Daylilies. As you can see from pedigrees below, lots of blue eyed parents, but all evergreen. Blue Perfection is an very important parent for blue....$200 sfans

Alien Butterfly, Blue Perfection and Blue Bubble stand out in the current introductions of most of what coming out this year. Hardy none are dormant. And the biggest fault is all the pinching in the throat and flowers are soft. A super hard trait to breed out. Not so bad in narrow flowers but not a good trait in round. These flowers open back, super important for cold night opening. If a southern flower shows just a little of this trait it will be worst in the north. If you cross with these and or Chasing your heart, you can correct for this right away in next generation.
