Hippopotamus

(Gossard, James) 2011 introduction

(Way Cool x Puma)

Tetraploid 38" Mid Late season Semi-Dormant emo fr 8" 3-4 way branching 15-18 buds. Fertile both ways.

Very Good rust resistance. Northern Hardy.

Flowers of Hippopotamus are peachy pink with a green undertone, greenish yellow edge, green throat. It has a lighter watermark. An interesting fact about hippopotamuses is that they have teeth that are brownish gray and a light pink underneath. Their teeth can be as long as 20 inches. Boy would that scare one away. Hippopotamus has been one of my best parents for producing huge toothy edged seedlings. As a direct parent it has produced my best toothy daylilies to date. A good rebloomer in the north, it is a tremendous parent and garden daylily. ......$50 D.F..
